24 Hours in a Life Raft for Charity!
Our intrepid Business Development Co-ordinator, Oli Tuckett will be spending 24 uncomfortable hours in a life raft in aid of the charity Sail 4 Cancer. This is the first time that the 'Superyacht 60/40 Team' has taken on the Life Raft Challenge bringing together a number of industry faces together in a very cramped place! The event was created to raise awareness of the 1000 people diagnosed with the disease every day. Sail 4 Cancer is primarily a provider of water based respite days and holidays for families affected by cancer.
Participants have been asked to take warm clothes, waterproofs and something to pass the time. Oli comments, "I wanted to be set adrift in a life raft because my sadistic mind loves a challenge, meeting new people and of course raising money for a great cause. During my yachting career I undertook three Atlantic crossings and fortunately didn't have to survive in a life raft. If I can endure a little discomfort in aid of raising money for a fantastic cause then so be it! I have some fantastic memories from my time at sea and it's great to help support Sail 4 Cancer so that people battling cancer can have some respite from the worry and have time out to create some wonderful memories of their own. So friends, family, colleagues and all my yachtie mates, come on, dig deep and let's help Sail 4 Cancer continue their fantastic work!"
